THE HEALING KISS

(A Narrative Poem Inspired by 2 Corinthians 1:3-4)
Part A: The Live STORY
A young mom followed behind her daughter, who pedaled her tiny bike as fast as her little legs could go. But picking up more speed than she wanted, the little girl suddenly rolled off the bike and cried that her ankle hurt. Her mom quietly got down on her knees, bent down low, and kissed it to “make the pain go away.” And it worked! The little girl jumped up, climbed back on her bike, and pedaled on.

Part B: THE NARRATIVE POEM
Beneath the glow of the evening sky,
A mother walked with watchful eye.
Her daughter pedaled, small and spry,
Her laughter light, her spirits high.

The tiny wheels began to race,
Her feet flew fast, a daring chase.
But speed became too much to face,
And down she tumbled, losing grace.

The child cried out, her ankle sore,
Her bike lay still upon the floor.
Her tears fell fast, she hurt for sure,
Would joy return as it had before?

The mother knelt without a word,
Her heart as soft as love conferred.
She bent down low, the cries she heard,
And kissed the pain away, assured.

With wonder bright, the girl stood tall,
Her fears dissolved, no hurt at all.
She climbed her bike, forgot the fall,
And pedaled on with strength and gall.

But life, dear friends, is seldom kind,
Its trials vast, its wounds unlined.
Yet God’s own comfort heals the mind,
And binds the broken heart confined.

For as the mother kissed the pain,
So God consoles through life’s disdain.
His mercy flows like gentle rain,
Restoring joy from tears’ domain.

And when we’re healed by love divine,
We’re called to comfort, intertwine.
To soothe another’s heart or spine,
And share His peace, a holy sign.

So, when life’s trials dim your view,
Remember this, His promise true:
To comfort you, He’ll see you through,
Then use your scars to comfort too.

Part C: Lessons from 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
God, the Father of mercies, and God of all comfort,
Heals our wounds with love that’s fervent.
Through our pain, He teaches us this:
To share with others His healing kiss.
